Yes, Mom, I took pictures.
For traffic reasons, they opted out of Sea World, and Mom and Tiger's Eye toured the San Diego Zoo. Unlike the St. Louis Zoo, it's not free, and Mom said the price was, "You don't want to know." Good enough for me. I've been there twice. Once I paid my own way, and once I was too young to put monetary value on it, but I do remembering arguing with my mother in the petting zoo that the object of my attention was, indeed, a yak. I also remember forcing myself to touch the macaws. My dad teased me about it, and darned if I was going to be chicken. We have a picture somewhere of him with one on his shoulder and me tentatively touching another on his wrist. Some change from the cravenly child to the mom who volunteers to go into the screeching what's-it-called (lorikeet) enclosure, the one where you have five birds fighting on your arm for the privy to a tiny cup of nectar. Those guys are fun, but bring earplugs.
