Movie Review

Bear with me. I've never done this before, but I found one worth doing.

Nick Cage. Uh-huh.

Set him on fire.

Oh, yeah.

Burn, baby, burn.

Phew. The kids found it hokey, Mr. Sapphire found it stupid, but a fiery biker just out and out did it for me. I note they left the end open for a sequel. Please! The fire-flinging chain-link whip was just enough for the movie.

I guess I watch these things not for pure entertainment motives, though. I watch through another set of eyes - how to write that same scene without the obvious visual cues. The way he pulled the chain back to him at such an angle that it circled around his torso twice to hold in place...See, I have to work on those kinds of descriptions. My stories always involve conflict. Always, someone's fighting. That's why I watch so many chick-kicking-butts movies, because they reflect the heroines, in form and fighting style, at least. Mine have their own sets of personal problems.

I found this movie visually stunning. I usually don't miss movies seen on big screen, but this one I really wish I had seen. I would have loved to follow him up the sides of those tall buildings and down and up those ramps. Oh, the helicopters? Awesome.

We do get our movies from Netflix and are quite happy with the service. And the variety, too. I have Muppet Shows coming in soon. Yes, my kids will be forced to watch mom relive her youth and understand why my Muppet ringtones are so darn important to me and why I dust the Swedish chef on my windowsill long before anything else gets dusted.
